Asura's Wrath: 5 Rounds of DLCs

Capcom's latest game Asura's Wrath will have five additional episodes, to be released in the upcoming weeks. There will be two fully animated episodes each from Shinya Ohira and Kazuto Nakazawa, both from STUDIO 4°C, for episodes 11.5 and 15.5 respectively.

There is also a four-episode bundle which reveals the true conclusion to Asura's Wrath, episodes 19 to 22.

There are also two episodes giving players a chance to fight Ryu and Akuma in Street Fighter IV style. Based on the video, we might also get to fight Evil Ryu.

Assassin's Creed III Special Edition Collections

Ubisoft recently revealed 2 special editions for Assassin's Creed III, the third entry, the fifth overall, to the series. There's the Freedom Edition and Join Or Die Edition.

The Freedom Edition has the following contents:

• Assassin's Creed III game
• Alex Ross's Steelbook
• Collector Box
• Connor's Figure
• George Washington's Notebook
• In-game Content: Single Player: Ghost of War, Lost Mayan Ruins
• In-game Conent: Multiplayer: Sharpshooter

Oh Capcom, I Am But A Fool

Capcom's recent releases seem to have some controversies of varying levels attached to it. Though their games are well received by the gaming community, we still can't help but notice something is not right.

Here are their most games released starting last year:

1. Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition

For early adopters of Street Fighter IV, and later buyers of Super Street Fighter IV, will find their copies of the long-running fighting game series lacking the additional contents. These are primarily the 4 additional characters: Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu, and Oni. Good thing Capcom offered this version via DLC for Super Street Fighter IV. And last December, a free patch was offered to re-balance the game.

And since Super Street Fighter IV didn't have a PC version, it's a good thing Arcade Edition was considered to be released.

2. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D

This is Capcom's second game for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the bonus mini-game of Resident Evil 4 and 5 combined into one whole game. The game is composed of "All-Stars" (pun unintended) of the Resident Evil series namely Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, Rebecca Chambers, Barry Burton, Hunk, Jack Krauser and Albert Wesker. It featured a bit redesigned stages from the last two main Resident Evil games. Unfortunately though, the main characters of RE4 are missing: Leon S. Kenney and Ada Wong.

Capcom told Eurogamer the reason for not including Leon:

"He's all tied up for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City," Kawata said. "He couldn't make his appearance in Mercenaries."

A very lame reason if you ask us.

Another issue in this game is that once you have played the game for a while and accumulated high scores, it stays there and you can't erase it. So if you're going to get the game used, you'll miss half the experience. All the characters might have been unlocked, all the skills might have been maxed out, all the levels are already there.

3. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was released in early 2011. After a few months, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was announced and will be released before the end of the same year. New additions are 12 new characters, new modes, new interface, and rebalancing. It was a complete rip off considering a lot of people invested early on the original MVC3, and UMVC3 suddenly felt like a completely new game.

Another thing people have noticed is that Capcom haven't included Megaman in the roster, considering he's the main character of the Megaman series but other characters such as Zero and Tron Bonne are there. People moved on eventually.

4. Resident Evil Revelations

The second Resident Evil game for Nintendo's latest handheld went back to the series' roots. The game got good reviews but still got a little bit tiny issue. The game title was misspelled in the game case:

Good thing Capcom offered to replace it.

5. Street Fighter X Tekken

Capcom and Namco Bandai's collaboration sparked the fighting community's excitement after announcing the two big fighting games' crossover despite the two games' different fighting mechanics. And it's not just a 1-on-1 fighting game like we're used too. It's a tag-team battle. An impossible was made possible.

The game was released for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360, and soon on PlayStation Vita. The Vita version will have 12 additional characters, later planned as DLC for the console versions. But before the release date, some users was able to hack the disc and discovered that the additional characters are already there. So basically, gamers will be paying for content that is already in the game.

Another issue is that the PS3 version had 4-player battle but for the 360 version, there wasn't.

6. Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City

Released a few days ago, this game garnered low scores, as low as 3/10, from major gaming sites including IGN and Gamespot. It was seen basically as a bastardization of the Resident Evil franchise.

In the end, Operation Raccoon City is little more than a poor man’s SOCOM, and a destitute man’s Resident Evil.

So Capcom might have been encountering a huge PR headache right now due to this series of unfortunate events. But we gamers still love them, right?

Let's hope that Resident Evil 6 won't suffer the same fate as these games.
